On Bolton-for-Biden

There are some discussions afoot to subpoena both John Bolton and Hunter Biden. Will it happen?

Probably not, for three reasons:

1. Legally, the two are not even remotely comparable. Bolton has information that directly addresses the allegations in Article I; nothing Hunter Biden could say, on the other hand, is relevant to either article.

2. It would be a huge gamble for both sides. Bolton is a loose cannon with an agenda; no one can be sure exactly what he would say, except that it would put him in a favorable light. And Hunter Biden could turn out to be a very sympathetic figure. Why run the risk?

3. Finally, the GOP senators know that Trump is only talking about witnesses to give the public the impression he has nothing to hide. When it is all said and done, he would raise executive privilege to block Bolton from testifying, which would lead to a court fight and delays that are in no one’s best interests.

My prediction, then, is that you will hear plenty of noise over the next few days on this subject, but nothing will happen.
